Mmm, this website has been less active than anticipated. The thought occurs to me as I'm working on my presentation for the Special Interest Group Workshop in Pragmatic Stylistics which will open the "PALA conference in Genoa":http://www.lingue.unige.it/pala2010/ next week. Sadly (for me), it clashes with the Pedagogical Stylistics SIG Workshop rescheduled after our planned conference in Budapest was volcanoed out earlier this year.

We hope that the Pragmatic Stylistics SIG will be a focus for research on pragmatic stylistics and will help to encourage specific projects, collaborations, etc. Send me an email if you'd like to join in or ask for more info or anything.

"PALA 2009":http://www.roac.nl/roac/pala.shtml was another fantastic conference, with a very wide range of topics discussed, some excellent research presented and the usual general feeling of supportiveness and positivity.

There were a number of pragmatically relevant presentations, including plenaries by Keith Oatley on emotion and simulation in responding to fictional texts, Gerard Steen on metaphor in language, thought and communication.

As usual, proceedings will be published online, probably early next year. We'll point you too them here when they arrive,
